Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong southerly winds are expected to develop ahead of a cold front this evening, lasting into Friday morning. Additionally, areas of enhanced wind gusts may occur with thunderstorms tonight. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 8 to 10 feet expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...Ocracoke Island and Hatteras Island. * WHEN...From 1 AM to 1 PM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Localized ocean overwash possible, which could impact portions of NC-12, especially around high tide (7 AM Friday morning). Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. &&
