* Flash Flood Warning for...
Caswell County in north central North Carolina...

* Until 245 AM EDT.

* At 847 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3.5 inches of
rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches
in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2.5 to 5 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of north central North Carolina, including the
following counties, Caswell, Rockingham and Stokes and Virginia,
including the following counties, Appomattox, Campbell, Charlotte,
Halifax, Henry and Pittsylvania.

* WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Heavy rainfall associated with Tropical Depression Chantal is
pushing its way through north central North Carolina and will
be making its way into south central Virginia over the next 6
to 12 hours. these areas will likely see widespread rainfall
totals of 2-3 inches with higher totals of 4 to 6 inches
possible near the center of Chantal.
