...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest North Carolina, including the following counties, in north central North Carolina, Surry. In northwest North Carolina, Wilkes and Yadkin. * WHEN...Until 700 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 455 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that the heavy rain producing thunderstorms which prompted the advisory have dissipated. However, runoff from these earlier heavy rains is still expected to collect in streams and low-lying areas, helping to maintain the threat for flooding in the advisory area. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Arnold Branch, Dobbins Creek, Cobb Creek, Cranberry Creek, Big Bugaboo Creek, Camp Creek, East Swan Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Deep Creek and Elkin Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the following counties, Watauga and Wilkes. * WHEN...Until 745 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 446 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. This is additional rain across the same area which received heavy rain between 2:00 PM EDT and 3:00 PM EDT. The combination of these two rounds of heavy rain have prompted the need for the Flood Advisory. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Shell Creek, South Fork Laurel Creek, Stony Fork, Mill Creek, Yates Creek, Left Prong Stony Fork, Flat Branch, Dugger Creek, Elk Creek, South Fork New River, South Prong Lewis Fork and Fall Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area.
