* At 143 AM EST, severe thunderstorms capable of producing
waterspouts were located along a line extending from near The
Knuckle Buoy to 21 nm south of 14 Buoy, moving northeast at 45
knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to nearly 50 knots.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

Drum Inlet, Ar285, Ar275, Atlas Tanker, R-8 Buoy, 14 Buoy, Cape
Lookout Bight, Cape Lookout, and The Knuckle Buoy.

...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and
seas 10 to 15 ft.

* WHERE...The coastal waters from Oregon Inlet to Surf City.

* WHEN...Until 2 PM EST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong south to southwest winds will
continue through early Friday afternoon in advance of a cold
front approaching from the west. Where thunderstorms occur,
areas of enhanced wind gusts up to 50 kt will be possible. These
strong winds will support hazardous seas as well.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for hazardous conditions.
