...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Southeastern Rutherford County in western North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1247 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Caroleen, Henrietta and Cliffside. - Locations along Beason Road, Franklin Road, High Shoals Church Road, Dobbins Road, and Old Mooresboro Road in far southeastern Rutherford County could see nuisance to minor flooding develop. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN BUNCOMBE, NORTHEASTERN HENDERSON, SOUTHWESTERN MCDOWELL, NORTHWESTERN POLK AND NORTHWESTERN RUTHERFORD COUNTIES... At 1239 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Village, Chimney Rock State Park, Bat Cave and Gerton. Flood stage is currently 6.22 feet at the Rocky Broad River near Bat Cave. Water will start to approach campgrounds along the Rocky Broad River in the Chimney Rock/Hickory Grove areas.
