Special Weather Statement
Issued: 1:39 PM Oct. 23, 2025 – National Weather Service
...INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 7 PM... Dry and breezy conditions are expected again today. Westerly winds will strengthen and gust frequently between 20 and 30 mph this afternoon, with less frequent ones up to 40 mph over the Piedmont and western Sandhills late this afternoon. These gusty winds will be accompanied by very dry air and relative humidity values between 20 and 25% with afternoon heating. Ongoing, abnormally dry to severe drought conditions will further increase the fire danger risk today. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Please consult your local burn permitting authorities as to whether burning is allowed today. If you must burn, use extreme caution, as fires can spread rapidly under these conditions.
