The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality in Raleigh NC
has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Ground Level Ozone
for Lincoln, Gaston, and Mecklenburg Counties, from 10 AM to 8 PM EDT
Friday.

An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone concentrations
within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. For

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 107 degrees expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Georgia, Piedmont North Carolina, and
Upstate South Carolina.

* WHEN...From noon to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
