...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina... Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 100 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings, especially those along the Watauga River in western Watauga County. Water remains over a few roadways, including Todd Railroad Grade Road along the South Fork of the New River. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1041 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that rain has exited the advisory area. However, minor flooding continues due to between 4 and 7 inches of rain that fell over the past 24 hours. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Cove Creek, Big Laurel Creek, Big Horse Creek, Call Creek, Beaver Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Brushy Fork and Beech Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Jefferson, West Jefferson, Beech Mountain, Lansing, Ashland, Glendale Springs and Sugar Grove. - For flooding safety information, please visit http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina... Southwestern Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 400 PM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 948 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated rainfall has ended. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 4.5 and 7.5 inches of rain have fallen since Saturday morning. Area creeks and rivers will gradually begin to recede through the morning. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Flat Branch, Dugger Creek, Left Prong Stony Fork, Grassy Creek, Laurel Fork, Mill Creek, Meat Camp Creek, Elk Creek, Dutch Creek, Norris Fork, Fall Creek, Brushy Fork and Little Dugger Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes and southwest Virginia, including the following areas, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson and Patrick. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - As the remnants of Isaias move northward into the lower Ohio Valley, periods of rain will continue. Heavier rainfall will continue in short bursts through the day.
