Special Weather Statement
Issued: 4:53 PM Feb. 1, 2026 – National Weather Service
...Black Ice Possible this Evening into Monday Morning... Any snow that melts today today will refreeze after sunset as temperatures will remain below freezing through Monday morning across much of the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. Thus, widespread black ice can be expected this evening through Monday morning. If traveling, be prepared for hazardous road conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses as well as on untreated roadways. Use extra caution when walking on sidewalks, driveways, and in parking lots. Although temperatures will rise above freezing across most locations by Monday afternoon, patchy black ice may linger across the higher elevations of the North Carolina mountains as well as in shaded areas throughout Monday.
