...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM EST MONDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills in the single digits are expected. * WHERE...All of central North Carolina * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 9 AM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. &&

Additionally, cold morning temperatures will allow any moisture or snow on roads, bridges, and overpasses to freeze tonight. * WHERE...All of central North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 10 AM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury. &&
