...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 AM EDT MONDAY... ...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the following counties, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes. * WHEN...Until 245 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1053 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain and flooding in the warned area due to thunderstorms. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Laurel Fork, Clear Branch, Elk Creek, Dugger Creek, Left Prong Stony Fork, Flat Branch, Craborchard Creek, Beaver Creek, Grassy Creek, Call Creek, Little Dugger Creek, Fall Creek, Dutch Creek and Brushy Fork. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin, Virginia, including the following areas, Alleghany VA, Amherst, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe, and southeast West Virginia, including the following areas, Eastern Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Summers and Western Greenbrier. * WHEN...Until 2 AM EDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving storm system is resulting in potential for persistent showers and thunderstorms...the storms containing high rainfall rates. This storm system has had a past history of producing localized rainfall amounts in excess of 5 inches in a span of less than 3 hours.
