Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 12 below expected. * WHERE...Portions of northwest North Carolina and southwest and west central Virginia. * WHEN...For the High Wind Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Saturday. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 1 AM Saturday to 7 AM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The cold wind chills as low as 12 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
