...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the
following counties, Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Jones, Onslow and
Pamlico.

* WHEN...Until 700 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 456 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jacksonville, New Bern, Havelock, Morehead City, Newport,
Warsaw, Piney Green, Pumpkin Center, Half Moon, New River
Station, Stella, Swansboro, Hubert, South River, North River,
Rose Hill, Richlands, Merrimon, Smyrna and Davis.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the
following areas, Coastal Onslow, Duplin, East Carteret, Inland
Onslow, Jones, Southern Craven and West Carteret.

* WHEN...Until 2 AM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Heavy showers and thunderstorms may produce areas of flash
flooding. Very heavy rain rates of over 2 inches per hour are
possible in training thunderstorms. Widespread rain totals of
1 to 3 inches are expected, with localized amounts of up to 8
inches possible.
