...STRONG GALE FORCE WIND GUSTS POSSIBLE, ALONG WITH A WIND SHIFT TO ACCOMPANY A COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE ACROSS THE LOCAL WATERS LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY EVENING... A strong cold front will move off the Carolina Coasts after 5 pm and into the offshore waters by 8 pm. During this 3 hour period between expect Southwest winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts to 30 kt to veer to the West to Northwest at 20 to 30 kt with gusts as high as 40 kt. After 8 pm, look for Northwest winds to diminish to 15 to 25 kt with occasional gusts to 30 kt. Mariners should quickly be prepared for this wind shift and a rapid increase in winds and associated seas during this short duration. If able, quickly make way to a protected location when strong gusty West to Northwest winds occur. &&
