...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO
NOON CST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills below 10 degrees to as low as
negatives to single digits in the Highway 82 corridor, with low
temperatures around 5 up to 15 degrees.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, and
central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, south
central, southeast, southwest, and west central Mississippi.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing
temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest low temperatures are expected
Monday night into Tuesday morning, but cold temperatures and wind
chills are expected throughout the event.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.

Drain in-ground sprinkler systems and cover above ground pipes.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals
have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside or near windows and doors.
