Cold Weather Advisory
Issued: 8:00 AM Feb. 1, 2026 – National Weather Service
...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 3 degrees are expected. Lows will be in the teens this morning. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, and central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central Mississippi. * WHEN...Until noon CST today. * IMPACTS...An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. Very cold wind chills and temperatures can lead to frostbite and hypothermia, especially with prolonged exposure and if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures and wind chills. Extensive power outages and snow and ice cover persist from previous ice storm. This dangerous cold will only exacerbate the impacts felt in those affected areas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Drain in-ground sprinkler systems and cover above ground pipes. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. &&
