...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing and expected. * WHERE...A portion of north central Missouri, including the following counties, Chariton, Grundy, Linn, Livingston, Macon, Randolph and Sullivan. * WHEN...Until 930 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 929 AM CDT, the transportation department reported multiple road closures in the warned area due to thunderstorms and heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 107 possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast Kansas and north central and northwest Missouri. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, from noon today to 9 PM CDT this evening. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
