In north central Minnesota, South Itasca and Cass Counties. In northeast Minnesota, Central St. Louis, Cook and Lake Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Mille Lacs Band, Big Sandy Lake area, the Bois Forte Band, Lake Vermilion area and the Grand Portage Reservation.This also includes the Boundary Waters eastern and central area. * WHEN...Through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Off and on rain showers and thunderstorms will continue through the afternoon after a widespread 1 to 4 inches have already fallen across much of the watch area. Flooding has occured today from the intense, repeat rainfall, and additional areas of flooding remain possible. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood. ...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Lake and St. Louis Counties. * WHEN...Until 345 PM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1256 PM CDT Wednesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hibbing, Ely, Lake Vermilion, Virginia, Chisholm, Eveleth, Mountain Iron, Hoyt Lakes, Gilbert, Aurora, Babbitt, Buhl, Biwabik, Cherry, Embarrass, Cook, Tower, Winton, Bear Head Lake State Park and Soudan Underground Mine State Park. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In northeast Minnesota, St. Louis County. * WHEN...Until 215 PM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1254 PM CDT Wednesday, the public reported flooding in the advisory area. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hibbing, Grand Rapids, Chisholm, Mountain Iron, Coleraine, Keewatin, Buhl, Nashwauk, Cherry, Taconite, Pengilly, Hill Annex Mine State Park, McCarthy Beach State Park, Trout Lake Near Bovey, Perch Lake, Bovey, Marble, Hart Lake, Calumet and Swan Lake. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood.
