...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Heavy snow and widespread blowing snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 7 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Minnesota and northeast North Dakota. * WHEN...From Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult. Falling and blowing snow, frequently reducing visibility below a half mile, may make travel dangerous, especially in open country. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
