...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST MINNESOTA... The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...In Minnesota, Koochiching, North Itasca, Central St. Louis, North Cass, South Itasca, South Cass, Crow Wing, Northern Aitkin, South Aitkin, Carlton and South St. Louis and Pine. * WINDS...West 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. ...NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY FOR PORTIONS OF NORTH-CENTRAL MINNESOTA... Dry conditions will lead to near-critical fire weather conditions today. Minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 25 percent are expected with dry fuels. Northwest winds of 10 mph with gusts to 15 mph are forecast for this afternoon. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning.
