The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Red Flag
Warning covering Sunday afternoon and evening for very hot
temperatures combining with gusty southwest winds and low relative
humidity all in an area with ongoing minimal rainfall over the
last few weeks. This Red Flag Warning is in effect noon to 9 PM
CDT Sunday. The Fire Weather Watch for Monday afternoon and
evening remains in effect.

* AFFECTED AREA...In Minnesota, Koochiching, North St. Louis,
Northern Cook, Northern Lake, North Itasca and Central St.
Louis.

* WINDS...Southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent Sunday and as low as 23
percent Monday.

* IMPACTS...The rapid spread of any fires may occur due to the
forecast weather conditions and dry fuels per guidance from
local land management agencies.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning covering Sunday afternoon and evening means
that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or
will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SUNDAY TO 1 AM
CDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 103
expected.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Crow Wing, Aitkin, Pine, Koochiching, Cass,
Itasca, Carlton, St. Louis, Cook and Lake Counties. In Wisconsin,
Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Sawyer, and Washburn
Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Fond du Lac Band,
the northwestern area of the Lac du Flambeau Band, the Lac Courte
Oreilles Reservation, the Bad River Reservation, the Grand Portage
Reservation, the Red Cliff Band, the St. Croix Band in Burnett
County, the Mille Lacs Band, Big Sandy Lake, East Lake, Hinckley
and, Lena Lake areas and the Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Deer
Creek and, Lake Vermilion areas. Other locations including
Madeline Island, Voyageurs National Park and the Apostle Islands
National Lakeshore. The entire Boundary Waters is also included.

* WHEN...From 11 AM Sunday to 1 AM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat index values up to 108 expected in
northern Ashland and Bayfield Counties along the South Shore.
Little to no relief from the heat is possible Sunday night as
continued very warm heat indices in the 70s are forecast Sunday
night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
