...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected along the
Beaver River near Beaver Bay.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Lake County.

* WHEN...Until 1130 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...At 845 AM CDT Friday... the Beaver River near Beaver Bay
was at 18.26 feet and rising. The water levels are expected to
continue to rise into the afternoon and then begin to fall. At
these levels expect water over the approaches to the Superior
Hiking Trail Bridge and several feet of flowing water over
portions of the Superior Hiking Trail on the north side of the
river. Portions of the Silver Bay Golf Course may be inundated.
People viewing Beaver Falls near MN-61 should be very cautious
near quickly flowing water. Flooding is NOT expected on Lax Lake
Road nor on MN-61.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1128 AM CDT Friday, rain and snowmelt is causing flooding.

Silver Bay and Beaver Bay.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping
at a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move away
from those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terrain
can quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.

Visitors to area waterfalls should expect snow and ice covered
trails and be careful around rivers that will have slippery rocks,
cliffs, and strong currents.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Cook, Lake and St. Louis Counties.

* WHEN...Until 645 PM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream
flows are elevated. Flooding is occurring on area rivers that are
popular for waterfall viewing.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 643 AM CDT Friday, rain and snowmelt is occurring, and
will cause minor flooding. Rapid river rises will cause minor
flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Grand Marais, Gunflint Lake, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Grand
Portage, Lutsen, Tofte, Beaver Bay, Forest Center, Temperance
River State Park, George Manitou State Park, Taconite Harbor,
Isabella, Little Marais and Finland.
