...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON
TO 1 AM CDT SUNDAY...
...WINTER STORM WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 7 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and
9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Southern Cook and Southern Lake Counties. This includes
the Tribal Lands of the Grand Portage Reservation.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 1 AM CDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The majority of the snowfall is expected to
fall during the daytime hours. With the high sun angle and
temperatures hovering just above freezing, snowfall will have a
difficult time accumulating on warm surfaces leading to a slushy
mess.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in

...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 PM
CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, waves 3 to 5 ft. For the
Gale Warning, northeast winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40
kt and waves 6 to 9 ft expected.

* WHERE...Grand Portage to Grand Marais MN.

* WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until 7 AM CDT this
morning. For the Gale Warning, from 11 PM this evening to 5 PM
CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for hazardous conditions.
