...BLOWING DUST ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Visibility between one half and two miles in areas of blowing dust. * WHERE...Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, Renville, Sibley, Brown, Nicollet, Redwood, Chippewa, Douglas, Lac Qui Parle, Pope, Stevens, Swift, and Yellow Medicine Counties. * WHEN...Until 6 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from 11 AM to 9 PM CDT Friday. * AFFECTED AREA...Portions of central and east central Minnesota. * TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 4 PM CDT this afternoon. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 11 AM to 9 PM CDT Friday. * WINDS...For the first Red Flag Warning south winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, and for the second Red Flag Warning west winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...For the first Red Flag Warning Around 25 percent, and for the second Red Flag Warning Around 15 to 20 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly.
