...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 10 AM CST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 42 below zero expected. * WHERE...Koochiching, Central and North St. Louis, Cook and Lake Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Grand Portage Reservation and the Bois Forte Band, Lake Vermilion and, Nett Lake areas. Other locations including Voyageurs National Park. The entire Boundary Waters is also included. * WHEN...From midnight tonight to 10 AM CST Thursday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Pay particular attention to people celebrating the New Year outdoors and ensure everyone makes it back indoors safely, including anyone traveling home after festivities. &&

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST EARLY THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Freezing drizzle and light snow. Additional snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations around a light glaze. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Crow Wing, Aitkin, Pine, Koochiching, Cass, Itasca, Carlton, St. Louis Counties. In Wisconsin, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Red Cliff Band, the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, the St. Croix Band in Burnett County, the Fond du Lac Band, the Mille Lacs Band, Big Sandy Lake, East Lake, Hinckley and, Lena Lake areas and the Bois Forte Band, Deer Creek, Lake Vermilion and, Nett Lake areas. Other locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and Voyageurs National Park. This also includes the Boundary Waters western area. * WHEN...Until 6 AM CST early this morning. * IMPACTS...Freezing drizzle may quickly coat roadways with a thin layer of ice that may be undetectable. Light snow on top of the existing ice accumulation will continue to make roads slippery. Please use extreme caution, especially on bridges, overpasses, and around curves.
