The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect until 4 PM CDT this afternoon. * AFFECTED AREA...In Minnesota, Koochiching, North Itasca, North Cass, South Itasca, South Cass, Crow Wing, Northern Aitkin and South Aitkin. * WINDS...Southwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 19 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. ...NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY FOR NORTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA... Dry conditions and breezy winds will lead to near critical fire weather conditions today. South winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph are forecast for this morning and afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values of 25 to 30 percent are also expected. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning.
