At 223 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Grosse Pointe to near Grosse Ile to near Temperance, moving east at 65 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. These severe thunderstorms will remain over eastern portions of Monroe and central Wayne Counties, including the following locations... Newport, Melvindale, Gibraltar, Erie, Woodland Beach, Stony Point, Bolles Harbor, Rockwood, Samaria, and Harper Woods. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 AM EDT for southeastern Michigan. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Michigan, including the following areas, Bay, Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Midland, Monroe, Oakland, Saginaw, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair, Tuscola, Washtenaw and Wayne. * WHEN...Through late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - In the last 10 days, most of southeastern Michigan has seen 1.5 to 4.5 inches of rainfall which has saturated soils before the main spring green up. Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight and continuing through Thursday evening.
