Special Weather Statement
Issued: 9:26 AM May. 29, 2026 – National Weather Service
...Elevated fire danger across northern lower Michigan today... The combination of drying fuels, low relative humidity values, and gusty winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan today. West to northwest winds with sustained speeds between 7-12 mph will gust to 20-30 mph at times into this evening. Relative humidity values between 20-30 percent are expected across parts of northern Michigan from late morning into this evening. These conditions support the quick start and spread of wildfires, so be sure to take the proper precautions to prevent fires from starting.
