ACROSS SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN...


WEATHER...

* An area of showers crossing the US-23 corridor at mid evening
occurs in very mild air spreading northward across metro
Detroit.

* Heavier showers and an isolated thunderstorm could produce wind
gusts around 45 mph this evening, especially toward the Ohio
border.

* A powerful cold front crosses the region between 11 PM and 1 AM
tonight. Southwest wind at 20 to 30 mph shifts west and
increases to near 50 mph shortly after midnight.

* Temperatures fall rapidly back below freezing during the late
night period.

IMPACTS...

Gusty wind and low visibility in downpours of rain result in
hazardous driving conditions this evening.

...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM MONDAY TO 7 AM EST
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Expect sustained winds up to 32 knots from the west
with gusts up to 46 knots. The largest significant waves will
be 4 feet with a potential maximum wave height of 5 feet.

* WHERE...Lake St Clair.

* WHEN...The maximum winds are expected around 7 AM EST Monday
with the largest waves expected around 8 AM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind direction will veer from SW Monday
morning to NW by Monday afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the

* WHAT...West winds 25 to 35 mph with occasional gusts of 50 to 60
mph expected.

* WHERE...All of southeast Michigan.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 9 PM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially
for high profile vehicles.

Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and
