...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 AM EST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Light freezing rain and drizzle transitioning to wind-driven snow later tonight and Monday. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 9 inches and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. * WHERE...Beaver Island and surrounding islands, and Cheboygan, Emmet, and Presque Isle Counties. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 1 AM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage and produce isolated power outages. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages. &&

...Patchy freezing drizzle continues... Patchy freezing drizzle will continue for the next few hours, especially across interior northern lower Michigan. While any additional ice accumulations will remain minimal, secondary and untreated road surfaces will remain ice-covered and slippery. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to continue to slowly rise above freezing by later this afternoon.
