At 1142 AM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line extending from near Novi to Downtown Detroit to Grosse Pointe, moving southeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Whiteout conditions with near zero visibility associated with intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to blowing snow. Wind gusts greater than 35 mph. SOURCE...Radar and trained spotter. IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes. This includes the following highways... I-75 between mile markers 47 and 62. I-94 between mile markers 210 and 225. I-96 between mile markers 161 and 166, and between mile markers 179 and 192. I-696 between mile markers 1 and 19. M-10 between mile markers 1 and 18. M-39 near mile marker 10. This snow squall will be near... Livonia, Southfield, Novi, Downtown Detroit, Detroit, and Dearborn around 1145 AM EST. Other locations impacted by this snow squall include Franklin, Commerce, Lathrup Village, Bingham Farms, Farmington Hills, Harper Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Huntington Woods, Grosse Pointe Woods, and Wolverine Lake. Central Genesee County in southeastern Michigan... * Until 1230 PM EST. * At 1127 AM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line extending from near Flushing to near Clarkston to near Rochester, moving southeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Near whiteout conditions with near zero visibility associated with intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to blowing snow. Wind gusts up to 35 mph. SOURCE...Radar and trained spotter. IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes. This includes the following highways... I-75 between mile markers 77 and 121. ...CAUTIOUS TRAVEL IS ADVISED FOR RAPID REDUCTIONS OF VISIBILITIES AND INTENSE SNOWFALL THROUGH THE LATE MORNING... WEATHER... * Snow squalls will impact southeastern Michigan during the late morning hours. * Snowfall rates in excess of a half inch per hour will be possible at times leading to accumulations of a dusting to localized 2 inches. * Northwest winds around 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. * Air temperatures will range between 23 and 27 degrees. IMPACTS... * Visibilities may briefly drop below a half mile due to intense snow squalls. Rapid fluctuations of visibility will occur. * Rapid snow accumulations on roadways will lead to slippery conditions particularly on bridges, exit ramps and overpasses. && PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...; * The combination of intense bursts of snow and strong winds; will result in localized white out conditions.
