* At 958 AM EDT, several clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms
will continue to impact far northern Lake Michigan and the Straits
of Mackinac through 1100 AM EDT.  General storm motion was toward
the east at 45 knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts to 40 knots and large hail.

IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in
structural damage.

Waugoshance Point, South Fox Island, Good Hart, Big Rock Point,
Gros Cap, Charlevoix, Epoufette, Petoskey, Sturgeon Bay, Naubinway,
Harbor Springs, Beaver Island, Cross Village, Point Aux Chenes,
Point Patterson, The Mouth Of Little Traverse Bay, and Brevort.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
Wind gusts to 40 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning,
and heavy rain are possible with these storms.

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN CHIPPEWA AND
MACKINAC COUNTIES THROUGH 1015 AM EDT...

At 854 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 17 miles northwest of Lower Tahquamenon Falls
State Park to 15 miles south of Blaney Park. Movement was east at 55
mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Paradise, St. Ignace, Whitefish Point, Point Iroquois, Bay Mills,
Rudyard, Curtis, Moran, Brevort, Trout Lake, Hulbert, Epoufette,
Strongs, Straits State Park, Naubinway, Garnet, Brimley, Eckerman,
Allenville, and Fibre.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.

waves of 3 to 6 feet and rip currents.

* WHERE...Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee, Western Mackinac and
Eastern Mackinac Counties, and Beaver Island and surrounding
islands.

* WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water
and high waves can sweep people off piers.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Regardless of swim risk, hypothermia is
possible due to very cold water temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
