...FLOOD ADVISORY FOR AN ICE JAM NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 AM EDT
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Pleasant River flooding caused by an ice jam near Pleasant
Street in Milo.

* WHERE...A portion of North Central Maine, including the following
county, Piscataquis.

* WHEN...Until 1130 AM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying areas along the river. Water
and large ice chunks over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1006 PM EDT, Piscataquis County Emergency Management and
the Public reports ice jams are happening upstream of the
Pleasant Street bridge in Milo along the Pleasant River
between Milo and Brownville. Ice continues to shift as
pressure builds upstream.
- Pleasant River Road between Brownville and Milo, and all
other low lying areas downstream to the confluence with the
Piscataquis River may experience minor flooding as river ice
conditions rapidly change. Those traveling the Medford Road
to Pleasant Street bridge, or residence near the river should
remain alert for rapidly changing conditions.

Milo, Brownville and Medford.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Water levels can rise and fall quickly in the vicinity of ice jams.
Those with interests along rivers and tributary streams should be
alert for rapidly fluctuating water levels in the vicinity of ice
jams. Never drive through flooded roads or around closed road
barricades. The barricades are there for your safety due to the
potential for ice jam releases or continued flooding.
