...GALE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE FRIDAY
NIGHT...

* WHAT...West winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and seas
8 to 13 ft possible.

* WHERE...Coastal Waters from Eastport, ME to Schoodic Point, ME
out 25 NM, Coastal Waters from Schoodic Point, ME to
Stonington, ME out 25 NM and Intra Coastal Waters from
Schoodic Point, ME to Stonington, ME.

* WHEN...From Thursday evening through late Friday night.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dangerous heavy freezing spray is expected
Friday afternoon through Saturday in bitter cold Arctic air.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should consider altering plans to avoid possible
hazardous conditions.  Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter
course, and/or secure the vessel for severe wind and seas.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 50 to
55 below zero possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Central Highlands, Coastal DownEast, Far
Eastern, Interior DownEast, and Penobscot Valley Maine

* WHEN...From Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite
on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...In addition to low wind chills, areas of
blowing snow could cause whiteout conditions, particularly across
open areas exposed to northwest winds.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Chill Watch means there is the potential for a combination of
very cold air and the wind to create dangerously low wind chill
values. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on
this situation.
