Southwestern Kent County in northeastern Maryland... * Until 1245 AM EDT. * At 1202 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Rock Hall, or 9 miles northwest of Centerville, moving southeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible. * Locations impacted include... Centerville, Chestertown, Denton, Centreville, Greensboro, Oakland, Ridgely, Rock Hall, Church Hill, Goldsboro, Queen Anne, Old Town, Starr, Jumptown, Sandtown, Harmony, Langford, Overton, Starkey Corner, and Wye Mills. In Maryland, Caroline, Kent MD, Queen Annes, and Talbot Counties. * WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
