...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST SUNDAY... ...WIND ADVISORY HAS EXPIRED... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero. * WHERE...Portions of DC, central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and northern Virginia. * WHEN...Until 10 AM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chills are expected to remain below zero through late Sunday morning. Being outdoors for a prolonged period of time will be life-threatening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
