* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and western Maryland, including
the following counties, in north central Maryland, Washington. In
western Maryland, Allegany.

* WHEN...Until 930 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 525 AM EDT, a stream gauge on Sideling Hill Creek
indicates minor flood is on going due to heavy from the
previous day. Flooding is already occurring in the warned
area. Between 2.5 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.

- At 436 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Flooding
is already occurring in the warned area.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and minor flooding is
forecast.

* WHERE...Wills Creek near Cumberland.

* WHEN...Until late this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Water approaches businesses at Motor City.
Vehicles must be moved to higher ground.
At 12.0 feet, Water reaches businesses in Motor City along route
36, and begins to approach homes in Locust Grove. Water may be
approaching the lowest sections of the railroad tracks on the left
bank. The tracks on the right bank will not be affected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:15 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 12.2 feet, or 2.2 feet
above flood stage.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 4:15 AM EDT Wednesday was 13.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late this afternoon and continue falling to 6.3 feet early
Saturday morning.
- Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Potomac River at Paw Paw.

* WHEN...Until tomorrow morning.

* IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, A parking area adjacent to the highway
bridge begins to flood. The roadway to the C&O Canal parking area
floods, as does the lowest end of the Purslane Run hiker/biker
area.
At 26.0 feet, Water covers an access road on the West Virginia side.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:15 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 22.1 feet, or 2.9 feet
below flood stage.
- Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage to 26.0 feet
this morning. It will then fall this afternoon. It will rise
to 27.3 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood
stage just after midnight tonight.
- Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
27.5 feet on 02/15/1984.

* WHERE...North Branch Potomac River near Cumberland.

* WHEN...Until this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Much of the Mexico Farms, West Virginia
airstrip is flooded, and water approaches nearby structures.
At 22.0 feet, Water reaches a substation in Wiley Ford, West
Virginia. Water also approaches an outbuilding in Wiley Ford, and
portions of Kelly Road in Cumberland and Canal Road in North
Branch.
At 23.0 feet, Water approaches homes on Canal Road in North Branch.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:00 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 23.2 feet, or 6.2 feet
above flood stage.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 4:00 AM EDT Wednesday was 23.6 feet.

this afternoon and continue falling to 7.9 feet early
