HAZARD...Heavy rain of 0.50 to 1 inch in one hour. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Localized ponding of water in low lying areas and rises on small streams. Locations impacted include... Mountain Lake Park, Oakland, Bittinger, Grantsville, Loch Lynn Heights, Deer Park, Accident, Luke, Merrill, Redhouse, Hutton, Jennings, Keysers Ridge, Crellin, Deep Creek Lake State Park, Swallow Falls State Park, McHenry, Big Run State Park, New Germany, and McComas Beach. This includes Interstate 68 in Maryland between mile markers 14 and 21. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of western Maryland, including the following areas, Eastern Garrett, Extreme Western Allegany and Western Garrett. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms are expected at times through this evening. Given the humid airmass in place, there is the potential for up to 2 inches of rain in an hour, with localized totals of up to 5 inches possible.
