...RAPID INCREASE IN WIND AND DROP IN TEMPERATURE DURING THE LATE
MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON...

A cold front will cross the area from west to east during the
late morning through early afternoon. With and behind that front,
winds will increase significantly and temperatures will drop.
Isolated showers are expected along the front with brief rain,
graupel and damaging wind gusts all possible. Behind the front,
for the rest of the day and evening, winds will gust up to 55 mph
and temperatures will drop into the 30s and low 40s. The Blue
Ridge will see gusts up to 65 mph with scattered wind damage.

...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...West winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and waves
3 to 6 ft. The strongest winds are expected this afternoon.

* WHERE...Chesapeake Bay from Drum Point MD to Smith Point VA,
and Tangier Sound and the inland waters surrounding
Bloodsworth Island.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for hazardous conditions.

* WHAT...South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 to 50 mph are
expected early this morning. Winds become west 20 to 25 mph with
gusts up to 45 to 50 mph behind a strong cold front this afternoon.

* WHERE...Dorchester, Inland Worcester, Maryland Beaches, Somerset,
and Wicomico Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM EST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
