...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Louisiana, including the following
parishes, Ascension, Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans,
Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John The
Baptist and Terrebonne.

* WHEN...Until 630 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 326 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain
has fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
New Orleans, Thibodaux, Napoleonville, Reserve, Hahnville,
Laplace, Avondale, Metairie, Marrero, Harvey, Timberlane,
Belle Chasse, Chalmette, Jefferson, Gretna, Harahan,
Westwego, Gramercy, Lutcher and South Vacherie.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana, including the following
parishes, Assumption, Central Plaquemines, Central Tangipahoa,
East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Eastern Ascension, Eastern
Orleans, Iberville, Lower Jefferson, Lower Tangipahoa, Northern
Livingston, Northern St. Tammany, Northern Tangipahoa, Southeast
St. Tammany, Southern Livingston, Southwestern St. Tammany, St.
Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John The Baptist, Upper
Jefferson, Upper Lafourche, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard,
Upper Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton Rouge, Western Ascension
and Western Orleans and southern Mississippi, including the
following areas, Northern Hancock, Northern Harrison, Northern
Jackson, Pearl River, Southern Hancock, Southern Harrison and
Southern Jackson.

* WHEN...Until noon CDT today.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall are still
possible early this morning.  The risk for flash flooding
will increase as these storms move through, and a quick 1 to
3 inches of rainfall is possible.
