...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM CDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes, Acadia, Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Jefferson Davis and Vernon and southeast Texas, including the following counties, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton, Orange and Tyler. * WHEN...Until 500 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1007 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to runoff from earlier heavy rainfall. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 2 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A storm system will slowly move through the region today and Friday. Widespread rainfall of 2 to 6 inches is possible with the potential for 6 to 12 inches locally. Southeast Texas north of I-10 into south-central Louisiana has the highest probability of seeing these higher totals. This will fall on already saturated soils and with ongoing flooding and or elevated water ways.
