At 701 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Phyllis, or 10 miles east of Pikeville, moving southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Pikeville, Elkhorn City, Jamboree, Fishtrap Lake, Garden Village, Phyllis, Toonerville, Marrowbone, Raccoon, Board Tree, Woodman, Biggs, Rockhouse, Mcandrews, Argo, Phelps, Belcher, Galveston, Fedscreek, and Shelbiana. ...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe. * WHEN...Through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms could train repeatedly over the same locations through Friday. Where this occurs, localized rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are possible and could lead to flash flooding.
