...A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH TONIGHT... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Estill, Johnson, Martin, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, Whitley, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe. * WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect through tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms are expected at times through tonight. Very heavy rainfall may occur where thunderstorms are the most persistent, resulting in flash flooding. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. &&

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe. * WHEN...Until 215 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1105 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will allow minor flooding to persist or worsen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Jackson, Campton, Booneville, Simpson, Oakdale, Copebranch, Chenowee, Widecreek, War Creek, Guerrant, Yeadon, Jetts Creek, Lawson, Gentry, Turkey, Pence, Lone, Flat, Elkatawa and Bethany. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. &&
