At 425 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Cliff, or near Prestonsburg. This thunderstorm was nearly stationary. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Prestonsburg, Allen, Endicott, Oaklawn Estates, East Point, Lancer, Dobson, Dotson, Blue River, Swamp Branch, Riceville, Auxier, Odds, Gapville, Dicks Creek, Cliff, Gypsy, Banner, Brainard, and Beaver Junction. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Kentucky Highway 3 in Floyd County between mile markers 1 and 4. ...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 degrees. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...The hot and humid conditions may cause heat illness. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures in the lower to mid 70s will provide little relief from the heat. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside.
