...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, Bell, Clay, Harlan, Knox and Leslie. * WHEN...Until 1100 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 756 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain has fallen over the past 3 hours. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected over the area this evening. This additional rain will likely result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Pineville, Middlesboro, Blanche, Rella, Arjay, Cary, Kettle Island, Straight Creek, Field, Wasioto, Wallsend, Miracle, Walker, Callaway, East Pineville, Varilla, Mills, Fourmile, Calvin and Ponza. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. &&
