...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of South Central Kansas, including the following
counties, Kingman, Reno and Sedgwick.

* WHEN...Until 945 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 538 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita, Derby, Haysville, Park City, Bel Aire, Mulvane,
Goddard, Rose Hill, Maize, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney,
Colwich, Garden Plain, Pretty Prairie, Downtown Wichita,
Andale, Eastborough, Cunningham and Turon.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.

possible.

* WHERE...Portions of South Central and Southeast Kansas, including
the following counties, in South Central Kansas, Butler, Cowley,
Harvey and Sedgwick. In Southeast Kansas, Elk.

* WHEN...Through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of heavy rain has occurred the past few days.
This has set the stage for additional flooding potential.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
