* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Arkansas River at Arkansas City.

* WHEN...Until late Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Flooding of agricultural lands can be
expected with bank overflows on west side of river. West Chestnut
Avenue west of the river floods, expect road closure.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 10.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this morning to a crest of 11.7 feet just after midnight
tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late Monday
morning.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington.

* WHEN...From this morning to tomorrow morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Flood waters cover several low lying spots
along Seneca Road between 40th and 60th Street just southeast of
Wellington. Woods Park within the city floods. Slate Creek comes
to roadway's edge at mile marker 15 on the the Kansas Turnpike.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 20.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
this evening and continue falling to 4.3 feet Thursday
morning.
- Flood stage is 19.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. This
flood warning replaces the prior flood warning for Cowley county.

* WHERE...A portion of South Central Kansas, including the following
county, Cowley.

* WHEN...Until 1245 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 836 AM CDT, emergency management reported flooding in the
warned area. Flooding is already occurring.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Arkansas City, Winfield, Udall, Burden, Dexter, Atlanta,
Geuda Springs, Rock, Cambridge, Winfield City Lake, Maple
City and Strother Field Airport.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Walnut River at Arkansas City.

* WHEN...Until this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Considerable flooding of farmland can be
expected. There is considerable flooding upstream along the west
bank of the Walnut River. On the east bank, the ground slopes
upward so that only about a 300 foot wide strip of land would be
affected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 18.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
this morning and continue falling to 8.4 feet early Thursday
morning.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Walnut River at Winfield.

* WHEN...Until this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, A large portion of the fairgrounds flood
along with rural roads about 3 miles northwest of Winfield that
are near the river. Then one mile west of the city of Rock, expect
30th Road to be closed due to high water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:16 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 21.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
this morning and continue falling to 7.7 feet early Thursday
morning.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
