...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON TO FRIDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Walnut River at Winfield.

* WHEN...From this afternoon to Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Flood waters flow over County Road Cowley
2 west of the city of Rock. Then 4 miles northwest of Winfield,
Cowley County Road 18 floods over a section just west of 71st Road.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:46 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 16.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this afternoon to a crest of 19.9 feet early tomorrow
afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Friday
morning.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas,
including the following counties, in Central Kansas, Chase,
Marion, McPherson and Rice. In South Central Kansas, Butler,
Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In
Southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette,
Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more
heavy rain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
