...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN FRANKLIN...NORTHERN
ANDERSON...SOUTHEASTERN OSAGE AND CENTRAL COFFEY COUNTIES THROUGH
1045 PM CDT...

At 1008 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
New Strawn, moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down twigs or small limbs and blow
around objects. Minor damage to vegetation is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Garnett, Burlington, Waverly, Richmond, Williamsburg, New Strawn,
Westphalia, John Redmond Reservoir, and Harris.

This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 158 and 178.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for east central
Kansas.

Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:55 AM Mar. 11, 2026 – National Weather Service
...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of east central Kansas, including the following
counties, Coffey, Franklin and Osage.

* WHEN...Until 100 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 954 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Ottawa, Pomona, Waverly, Williamsburg, Quenemo, Melvern,
Olivet and Beto Junction.
- This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 154 and 189.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
