...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 1215 PM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 548 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. Between 2 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Derby, Winfield, Mulvane, Neodesha, Fredonia, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Yates Center, Oxford, Udall, Howard, Burden, Altoona, Moline, Longton, Toronto, Severy, Buffalo, Grenola and Atlanta. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. &&
